Proposed Super Aankhu Khola Hydropower Project (SAKHP) is located in Dhading District of Central Development Region of Nepal and is a run-off-river project. The licensed Project area lies within Lapa and Sertung VDCs. The proposed SAKHP area lies within coordinates of 28°10’00”N and 28°11’44”N latitudes, and 85°02’56”E and 85°04’45”E longitudes. The headworks of the Project is located just upstream of the confluence of Tatopani (Ilep) Khola with Menchet (Bhabil) Khola. The powerhouse is located just upstream the confluence of Lapa Khola and Aankhu Khola, approximately 4 km downstream from the proposed head works. The project has been designed to generate 25.4 MW power using water from Tatopani (Ilep) Khola.
Feasibility Study of the project has just been completed and the project is approaching for Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NEA. The Environmental studies (IEE) for this project is completed and the TOR is under approval process.
The track road to the powerhouse site of Aankhu hydropower project is opened and the track roads from above Aankhu Hydropower Project is under construction with joint venture of Super Aankhu Khola Hydropower Project(25.4M.W)and Dhading Aankhu Khola Hydropower Pvt. Ltd (35M.W)
Transmission line from the project site to the Trishuli 3B substation needs to be constructed for power evacuation for which Survey has already been completed by Aankhu Hydropower Project (42 M.W). Three hydropower developers of Aankhu Corridor are planning to construct the transmission line jointly.
We expect to start project construction in the first quarter of 2017 and complete construction within four years (i.e. by July 2021). The tentative project cost for this Project is around NR4.37 Billion based on 2015 prices. Based on this cost and the revenue that can be generated after selling energy to NEA, the project will yield a Return on Investment of 16.14%.
